Vacancies

Enquiries About Residency

Vacancies, when they arise, are advertised locally in Dedham and surrounding areas where priority is given to applicants who are 60 or over and who have a local connection because they have lived in the area for at least 5 years. In exceptional circumstances, these requirements can be waived.

Residents must be capable of independent living, caring for themselves without assistance.

If you are interested in applying for accommodation, or applying on behalf of someone else, please contact us. A member of the Trustees will be happy to guide you through the application process and answer any questions.

Legal Information

As a matter of law, residents of almshouses are not tenants and as such, although they are beneficiaries of a charitable trust, they do not have the same legal rights as those who rent accommodation from a commercial landlord. This status as residents is also reflected in the maintenance contributions that residents pay towards the upkeep of our Almshouses, which are set annually by the Trustees at a level that is below a comparable market value rent.

Current Vacancy

A vacancy has arisen for a new resident in one of our properties in Crown Street, Dedham. The property is likely to be available from 1″ December after some refurbishment. The vacant property has an upstairs bedroom, with all other facilities downstairs.

Application Forms must be completed and returned to clerk.duntons@gmail.com by or before 23 October 2025:
